How to use Hockline
A short field guide for the first time you open the app.
Quick start
- Open Map and long-press your first stand spot.
- Set the stand's good winds.
- Add an emergency contact.
- Start a sit and set when you will be back.
Get set up in 2 minutes
Open Map and long-press the spot where you hunt. Save your first stand. Open the stand and tap the wind directions that hunt best there. Add one emergency contact under Account.

Check the day
Today's Plan shows legal light, movement windows, the wind at your stand, and where your scent goes. The seven-day plan works from your location or a stand. Movement Forecast, Weather, Solunar, and Hunt Alerts are in the menu.

Hunt it safe
Start a sit from a stand and set a return time. If you do not check in after the return time and wait window, Hockline emails your emergency contact. You can make a live location link from the active sit. GPS tracking and live location updates work only while Hockline is open and on screen.

Map tools
Use satellite, lidar hillshade, 3D terrain, old aerial photos, public land, trails, and wind flow. Add scrapes, rubs, trails, and bedding as marks. Open a mark or stand to delete it. The wind flow button shows the moving wind layer.

After the shot
Use Shot guide before you log the shot. Save a shot log, then open Blood trail to mark sign with GPS points. Blood trail has a camera assist for looking at sign in the field.

Your crew
Hunt areas hold shared boundaries, stands, members, the Group Board, and stand reservations. Friends handles friend requests and locations you choose to share. News Feed shows activity from accepted friends. Report bad content and block people from community screens.

Learn books, Coach, and help
Learn has the hunting books. Chapter 1 of each book is free. Premium opens the rest. Coach is Premium. Free also includes one stand, the sit log, legal light, seasons, basic wind, safety check-in, blood trail, shot guide, shot log, Today's Plan, the seven-day plan, and Call Test. Premium adds unlimited stands, Black Hock, rut forecast, wind fit for each stand, offline maps, Coach, and My Patterns. For help, use the support page.
